Urge Your Legislator to Rein in Predatory Payday Lending

Predatory lending practices trap consumers in spirals of debt, and payday lenders are among the worst.  They offer short term cash loans with terms designed to be very difficult to meet.

The average APR for a payday loan is over 500%, and in 2005, Wisconsin consumers paid an estimated $124 million in fees.

And, Wisconsin is currently the only state in the country where there is no rate cap for licensed lenders.

The banks have hired 20 high-priced lobbyists in Madison and are gearing up to defeat this.  We have legislative leaders on our side, but we need our legislators to hear from people like you to overcome the money and influence of the banks.
